The pain of losing Jane magazine...

I am officially depressed today. Jane magazine announced on Monday that it's folding. This publication has been my one true friend since its debut in 1997. I lost Sassy magazine, but gained Jane. This magazine achieved what many other publications set out to do but never achieve. They managed to snag young female readers--20s-30s. Women who cared about issues beyond what's hot to wear on a first date or how tell if he likes you by his body language.

Advertisers still deserted the magazine over the next two years. Now when I go to my mailbox, I won't get that once-a-month rush when I glance at the cover of the new Jane. Instead I will just get bills and Cosmopolitan, Glamour and Lucky, which I never liked as much Jane anyway. Sadness surrounds me.
